people of God called The United Methodist Church.
The People of God
We, the people called United Methodists, are living through trying times. Our disagreements have reached what many see as a breaking point. We are facing a global pandemic affecting more people around the world than we have seen in many decades.
While many focus on what separates us, our shared history tells us that United Methodists share a number of core attributes. We are a church that has persevered through challenges while remaining deeply rooted in our Wesleyan heritage. We forge into places of hurt and need, faithfully following Jesus’ directive to help our neighbors. As United Methodists, we have and continue to leave a footprint of love on this world.
We are living through trying times. Life is different because of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
As we seek to follow Jesus, the people of The United Methodist Church continue to be what we have been at our best—a spirit-filled, resilient, missional, deeply-rooted, diverse, connected and faithful people of God.
This is who God continues to call us to be.
The People of God campaign launched in 2020 as a celebration of the core values that connect the people of The United Methodist Church. We are faithful, missional, justice-seeking, spirit-filled, deeply rooted, connected, resilient and diverse people of God. No matter what, God is with us, and we continue to have opportunities to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation the world!
