Social Justice
Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere
God told Abraham that because of the blessing God was giving him, “all the families of the earth will be blessed because of you” (Genesis 12:3). Jesus taught, “when you serve one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me” (Matthew 25:40). John Wesley, the founder of the early Methodist movement, encouraged us to grow in our faith by “doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all.”
United Methodists continue to live out our faith every day through acts of loving service. We’re active in our communities, reaching out to neighbors in need. Through our global connection of congregations and agencies, we participate in ministries thousands of miles from where we live. In our doing good, we seek to be a blessing to all the families of the earth.
