After years of dormancy and an outdated website, our church has moved into the here and now of the world wide web. The Good News of our church is being delivered to an audience that is greater than the size of our congregation!
The month of July was our best traffic month ever with an impressive 309 unique visitors from the United States and 12 other countries, including Canada, the Philippines and Israel! Those visitors viewed a total of 1,055 pages, which works out to 3.41 pages per visitor…which is not bad, but we have a long way to go.
In the past 30 days we added a Pinterest account with several Pin Boards featuring inspirational photos which in many cases link back to our website. We started podcasting Pastor Nelson’s sermons using Archive.org, a free hosting service. Our Facebook “likes” have increased by more than 50 in the past 28 days and our posts to the social media network reached of 2,433 people! That’s a 50% increase from the previous 28 days. We added games to the website giving visitors another reason to stick around. Hey, if they are going to waste time on the Internet, why not do it on our website, right? They might stumble upon the Good News on one of the many other pages of our website.
Of course, every page has the “Give” button clearly displayed. Online giving has increased dramatically. Our weekly average has gone from $165.80 in June to $269.34 in July.
Of note, we’ve raised $153.28 for our church shopping online via UMC Market. It’s simple and most of the online stores you do business with are already participating by giving back 1%-15% of your purchase to our church! If you’d like to sign up, free, right now, click this link: UMC Market or copy the link and share it with your friends. Copy this and paste it in an email to your friends and family: https://umcmarket.org/refs/901eabdfc83f407dba536c2ad4c84867/dn-umc.
We have come a long way, but we have a long way to go and the future is bright. Praise the Lord for our initial success and may the Holy Spirit move you to get more involved with our social media, sharing our online message with your friends, and spreading the Good News of Wilmington First United Methodist Church to the world.
