Affidavits of cleared individuals will be kept on file in the Wilmington FUMC office. Families who are to live in our church for a week go through a strict screening process and must adhere to a set of guidelines or they will be released from the program. Family Promise South Bay has offered to provide documented proof of clearance for Wilmington FUMC to have on file.
An original plan to house the families in the upstairs, under-utilized space was shot down after it was concluded bringing the rooms up to code and making them “livable” would be costly. It is the belief of the Board of Trustees that the Sunday School classrooms provide a near turnkey solution.
While the families and the volunteers reside on our property, they will not have access to the Sanctuary or to any of the first floor offices. They will have access to the kitchen and the dining room, the meeting hall as well as the first floor restrooms.
Additional questions may be asked during the Church Council meeting led by Dr. Bert Ashe and representatives from Family Promise South Bay, including Nick Rasmussen.
